Things We Didn’t See Coming in 2023: Kim Kardashian as an Ordained Minister
The star presides over the wedding of go-to hairstylist Chris Appleton.
As a Black gay beauty enthusiast, I’ve been told in many of my past professional roles that I had a “hairstylist personality.” Many women have asked to be surrogates to my future children and even asked to be in my wedding whenever that time. However, no one has taken it as far as Kim Kardashian who actually was the officiant for the wedding of her hairstylist Chris Appleton.
Standing as the greatest witness to the union, Kimmy presided over the nuptials of Appleton and his beau, White Lotus actor Lukas Gage. We know that she’s a reality star, mother, lawyer and actor on the side, but an ordained minister was not the role we had in mind for the KarJenner sister in 2023.
The ceremony was a very small and intimate occasion filled with white everything: the walls, floor tiles, flowers and silk/satin drapery. LGBTQIA+ weddings trail off the traditional route, so it wasn’t honestly uncommon to see the grooms dressed in faux fur cats and animal-printed shirts with Kim dressed in a leather, corseted gown. Totally on-brand.
As Pride season is soon underway, much light and love to Chris Appleton and Gage on tying the knot.
