Doja Cat Shows off and Explains the Meaning Behind New Bat Tattoo Covering Her Back
See the fresh ink here.
Doja Cat continues to change up her look, this time with a new tattoo. The fresh ink is a skeleton bat located on her back, which she explained the significance of through someone else’s quote.
She took to Instagram to share photos of the tat as well as a screenshot of a paragraph that elaborates on what bats symbolize in different parts of the world. The uncredited excerpt began, “To the Indian tribes of the northwestern United States, bats are symbols of diligence; while in the Great Plains, they imparted wisdom on their people. In the southwest and Mexico, they are representative of death and rebirth, because they go underground in the early morning, and then appear again each night in a noisy hoard. So they are reborn every night, flooding out from their caves.”
Doja then highlighted the following: “Bats often represent death in the sense of letting go of the old, and bringing in the new. They are symbols of transition, of initiation, and the start of a new beginning.”
The musician’s ink could also represent where she is in her career considering she’s getting ready to drop a new album, signifying a new era.
