Dua Lipa and Donatella Versace's "La Vacanza" Collection Has Landed

Making its runway debut at Cannes.

Versace‘s “La Vacanza” showcase, co-designed by Dua Lipa and Donatella, took place in Cannes on May 23 and the result did not disappoint.

Drawing inspiration from Versace’s Fall/Winter 1992 and Spring/Summer 1995 Atelier collections, the co-designed offering comprised fluid silk shirts, wide-tailored pants and buckled bralettes, paired with metallic miniskirts, sexy bikinis and mesh looks, taking cues from the iconic ’90s supermodel era. Landing in a summery color palette of pastel “Azur Blue” and “Lavender,” the collection was brought to life by the metallic shimmer, crystal mesh and pastel leather, all underpinned by Lipa’s signature butterfly motif.

In terms of how the relationship began, it’s clearly been an ongoing partnership since day one for both of them. “We’ve had such a longstanding relationship and Donatella supported me from the very beginning, from the Brit Awards performance which was amazing and really special for me, and then we’ve had three Grammy’s moments together,” Lipa told us during a press conference.

“Donatella has this real [sense], it’s a very special thing that not very many designers do at all, but she really cares about how women feel in the clothes, and she wants to make sure that you feel really strong and empowered. She has these really incredible values that I I really resonate with,” the artist continued.

“To hear a voice outside of my team to come and tell me how she sees Versace, it’s so important. It’s important because for me Lipa represents the woman today: confident, strong, and has the capability to influence people,” Donatella added. Confidence and freedom appeared to be the duo’s main influence, alongside pulling from Versace’s rich archives. “For each of us, there was quite a significant resemblance of the butterfly as something that we connected on quite early on,” Lipa explained.

“We wanted to make the holiday wardrobe and something that definitely I could see myself wearing all summer, something that I felt other people would also love and enjoy. It’s just fun. It’s flirty,” adds the singer.
