Lizzo Has a Message About Losing Weight: "I Don’t Ever Want To Be Thin"

The star shares her thoughts on working out to not “escape fatness.”

Lizzo is known for her high-impact energy at all times. Recently the star took to TikTok to get candid about weight loss and really what that means for her and her body image.

The singer-songwriter stitched a video from content creator @tiffriahgrande, who was looking for a community with other fat people focused on working out for their health and not trying ” to escape fatness.” Lizzo quickly chimed into the chat to share her thoughts. “Heavy on the not trying to escape fatness,” she stated in sound solidarity. “I wanted to stitch this to show support to you because this creator specifically said I’m looking for people I resonate with.”

In the video, the star explained the full physical demands of her career as a musical artist, which she described as a “high-performance job.” She emphasized that she loves what she does — but it was important to her to invest more into her fitness for stamina and to keep up with the physical component of her job. “I think a lot of people see a fat person that way and immediately assume that everything they are doing is trying to be thin,” she says. “I don’t ever want to be thin.” And we hear you, Lizzo.

Everyone deserves to be their most healthy self, regardless of their form, shape or size. Many kudos to Lizzo for clearing the record and letting the girls know it was never about being “thin.” It’s about being fine — and that’s on period.
