An Inside Look at UNDERCOVER's 'RECORD,' Its First Hardcover Release in Six Years
Revealing an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at label’s runway shows.
Japanese streetwear brand UNDERCOVER has just announced the release of its anticipated photobook RECORD, a title offering an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at label’s runway shows. Curated by Paris-based photographer WATARU, RECORD is UNDERCOVER’s first hardcover release in six years, following previous successes like The Shepherd by Yoshie Tominaga in 2008 and Chaos/Balance by Taro Mizutani in 2017.
The book offers an intimate and exclusive glimpse into the lead-up and backstage preparations for three seasons, spanning from Spring/Summer 2016 to Spring/Summer 2017. In addition to the photobook, UNDERCOVER will release three photo tees featuring glitchy-like images selected by founder Jun Takahashi in black and white colorways, as well as a limited-edition graphic tee exclusively available with the book package.
RECORD will be available online, at global UNDERCOVER stores and at Daikanyama TSUTAYA BOOKS in Shibuya City, Tokyo starting from June 21. In other book news, TOY by Joshua Gordon depicts Japan’s fascinating and multi-dimensional toy culture.
