Schiaparelli Debuts Its New "Schiap" Bag for FW23

Arriving in September.

Schiaparelli has just unveiled its latest accessory, revealing the “Schiap” bag for Fall/Winter 2023 Ready-to-wear collection.

Inspired by Elsa Schiaparelli, affectionately called, “Schiap” by her friends, the newest handbag boasts a strong, angular shape, immediately making itself known. Its classic rectangular shape easily evokes old money vibes, while smooth lambskin bears an eye-catching glossy texture. Artistic Director Daniel Roseberry shares, “For this new Schiap bag, I wanted to riff on a classic profile rather than chase a trend — simple feels perfect to me right now.”

Simple is best as the ornately designed bag exudes a deserved quiet confidence. Pulling from the luxury brand’s signature motifs, a bold hammered brass plate decorated with a lock closes the bag, creating an atmosphere of mystery. Elsewhere, embossed leather bands are accented with gold stitching, contrasting a hot pink interior lining, nodding to the “Shocking!” perfume Elsa created in 1937.

Arriving with a detachable golden brass chain, the bag can be worn as a crossbody or clutch. The “Schiap” is available in a monochrome black, ecru and jade colorway, alongside a two-toned iteration. Launching in September, the “Schiap” can be purchased at the Schiaparelli Salons on Place Vendôme in Paris, Harrods London, Bergdorf Goodman New-York, Neiman Marcus Dallas and Los Angeles.
