Margot Robbie To Earn $50 Million USD Paycheck for 'Barbie'

‘Barbie’ is now the highest grossing live-action film by a female director worldwide.

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie has shattered records, propelling Margot Robbie, the film’s star and producer, toward $50 million USD payday through her salary and box office bonuses. Inside sources shared this news with Variety, hinting that Gerwig might also reap substantial rewards due to the movie’s triumph. Only a month after its debut, Barbie remains the hot topic, raking in $526.3 million USD domestically and $657.6 million USD internationally, accumulating a grand total of around $1.18 billion USD. This achievement crowns the film as the top-grossing live-action production directed by a woman across the globe.

Barbie’s momentum shows no sign of waning, securing its spot as Warner Bros.’ second highest-grossing release, trailing only behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. The mastermind behind this cinematic sensation is none other than Margot Robbie’s own production company, LuckyChap Entertainment. Founded in 2014 alongside husband Tom Ackerley and friends Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr, the company is dedicated to bringing women’s stories to the forefront and championing female creators in the industry. Noteworthy projects from LuckyChap include the Oscar-nominated Promising Young Woman, Birds of Prey and the Netflix series, Maid.
