Marimekko's Latest Homeware Collection Spotlights Sabine Finkenauer's Geometric Flair
As part of the label’s Artist Series.
The collaboration, which is part of the Marimekko Artist Series, underscores the Finnish brand’s commitment to spotlighting talent and collaboration, adapting techniques to capture each artist’s vision while retaining authenticity. The Sabine Finkenauer range marks a fresh chapter in this creative endeavor.
Finkenauer’s intricate oil pastel patterns were translated by Marimekko into homeware, including throw pillows, tablecloths and ceramic tableware. The collection’s restrained color palette juxtaposes navy blue hourglass forms with lively orange-red circles. Some pieces feature textured, gridded backgrounds, while others boast bold, high-contrast prints.
“Simple things are the overarching topic of Sabine Finkenauer’s art,” Marimekko shares. “The forms that appear in her work represent an artistic journey from the figurative to the abstract, while still evoking memories of familiar, everyday shapes.”
Previewed at Milan Design Week, the collection is now available on Marimekko’s website.
