Closing the fourth day of Paris Fashion Week, Isabel Marant delivered a Spring/Summer 2024 collection filled with exciting textures and daring silhouettes. Cut-outs, tassels and sequins were all fair game as the gathering of garments generated a joyful and coy energy as lingerie-esque pieces and leg-baring short shorts were begging to be worn for a night out.
WHAT: Isabel Marant’s SS24 season featured an array of prints and materials, balancing a sensual undercurrent with a more playful tone. Presenting 55 looks, the assortment of clothing could easily belong in the closet of a Parisian socialite, offering bold ensembles for a busy day of martinis and frites, as well as refreshing evening wear for dimly lit rooms and close conversations.
WHERE: The show took place in Place Colette where models walked down an blue-tinted runway.
SAW: A provocative nature overtook the collection as lingerie-inspired sheer frocks are a mainstay. While the offering is decidedly feminine, utilitarian detailing adds contrast. Heavily pocketed cargo pants and outerwear sit comfortably alongside skimpy bodysuits, resembling Leeloo’s iconic white outfit in The Fifth Element. The color red beams throughout the mélange, appearing on sumptous leather jackets with curved hems and matching shorts. Meanwhile, dizzying prints decorate everything from sweaters and jumpsuits to midriff-baring dress complete with pockets. Canadian tuxedos are enlivened with embroidery, while special occasion looks are outfitted with disco ball-like fringe. Mranat’s slight obsession with cut-outs continue as elegant little black dresses are reimagined with singular shoulders.
HEAR: Blonde Redhead provided the soundtrack.
TOUCH: Denim, sequins, leather, lace and crochet knits were all present throughout the range.
TASTE: Isabel Marant’s SS24 collection evoked a refined sense of levity, welcoming clothing fit for summer nights in Saint Tropez. Skin-centric silhouettes and fanciful fabrics infuse the line with a trademark Parisian cheekiness, juxtaposing practical garments with elegant ensembles.
