In a new interview, singer and actor Troye Sivan opens up about his album.
Releasing October 13, Sivan’s upcoming album, Something to Give Each Other, was once described as a “celebration of sex, dance, sweat, community, queerness, love, and friendship.” On the topic of his hit single, “Rush,” Sivan gave credit to that “feeling of kissing a sweaty stranger on a dance floor,” as what fueled his sex-positive project. “A 2 hour date that turned into a weekend,” he continued, “A crush, a winter, a summer…Party after party, after party after after party.”

In a new interview, however, Sivan cuts through the subtlety and spills the real tea on what inspired his new era: an iconic hookup. “We were laying in bed,” he began, “and he was like, ‘This is one of life’s greatest pleasures, connecting with people in this way.’” “Obviously the hook-up is fun,” Sivan told the publication. “But he’s like, ‘Even if I never see you again, we get to have this really special moment together.’”
And from there, Something to Give Eachother was born.
