Anatomy of a Bag: The Coach Tabby 20

Breaking down the internet’s it bag.

TikTok trends come and go but there are those that withstand the test of time.  Coach’s classic Tabby Bag is one of them.

The staple style has flooded TikTok feeds for years as the must-have “it bag” for aspiring “It Girls” and it is indeed just that. There’s the Time Square Tabby, the Pillow Tabby and the Jelly Tabby — shrouded in endless shades and shaped in various, ‘70s-inspired silhouettes — but the Coach Tabby 20 takes the cake as a cult-favorite online and offline.

Taking the Tabby 20 from TikTok to the streets was an easy feat for the style savvy, with ordinary people and celebrities alike rocking the accessory. From PinkPantheress and Normani to Emily Ratajkowski and Storm Reid, all the A-List girls have been seen with the throwback silhouette designed by sportswear trailblazer and fashion designer Bonnie Cashin. Though Cashin took creative cues from an archival Coach ‘70s design, the modern iteration hit the style scene in 2019, setting forth a new era for Coach.

Coach reintroduces the Tabby 20 to a new style set, unveiling premium pebbled leather, historic hardware and detachable handles and straps for infinite styling options. Since its debut, the structured shoulder bag has seen multiple makeovers, often appearing in a bright metallic sheen or a tie-dye pattern. In other cases, the Tabby 20 has been adorned with colorful appliqués against a classic black finish or crafted of quilted plush leather.

Whichever way the Tabby 20 takes shape, Coach’s overnight success silhouette is the bag for you and yours.

Check out the video above to watch us break down the Coach Tabby 20 and all of its glory.
