Michaela Stark Opens 'Panty Show' Exhibit
As seen on the official Milan Fashion Week calendar.
Artist and couturier Michaela Stark opens the “Panty Show” exhibition at Milan Fashion Week.
Opening February 20, Stark‘s exhibit explores body-positivity and love of fat bodies. “We’re taking the male gaze out of the picture,” told New York Times. “I put an obscene amount of time into making lingerie that makes fat desirable.” Shot by renown photographer Charlotte Rutherford, the art exhibit features femme bodies in corsets, panniers and padded hips — oh and don’t forget couture-level glam.

Stark is no stranger to celebrating femme form as a seamstress who’s worked with the likes of Beyoncé. In true alignment, the art show opens alongside the launch of her new ready-to-wear line brand, Panty, which she co-founded with partner and photographer Raga Muñecas. “Panty is created by a lesbian couple,” she made sure to add. Celebrating the launch, “Panty Show” features performance art from Stark herself.
Explore the “Panty Show” at Fondazione Sozzani from 11am to 7:30pm until February 25.
