I Tried Joanna Vargas’ Celeb Facial and My Jawline Has Never Looked More Snatched

Spoiler: there’s a good reason all the stars get it ahead of big events, including the Emmys.

On the tail end of the Emmys and being envious of how beautiful each and every star looked, I decided to do my due diligence and figure out their secrets. It turns out that preparation is done ahead of time, in the spas of Hollywood’s elite clientele. One such beauty destination is Joanna Vargas: who is famous for combining all-natural ingredients with tech and technique. Her clients include Naomi Watts, Denee Benton, William Stanford-Davis, Matt Bomer, Lousia Jacobson and Dan Levy. I tried their go-to Joanna Vargas’ Triple Crown Facial to find out if it lived up to the hype. (Spoiler alert: it definitely did.)

The Facial Experience

Walking into Joanna Vargas’s spa, I immediately felt a sense of calm. The serene atmosphere set the stage for what would be a rejuvenating experience. The facial begins with a thorough cleansing, which feels refreshing and luxurious. Some of Vargas’s most popular products were used, including the Vitamin C Face Wash, which is packed with botanicals and antioxidants, making my skin feel nourished right from the start.

The Firm Phase

First, we needed to get the skin clean. This facial begins with microdermabrasion, the spa calls it a “Diamond Peel,” which utilizes a diamond tipped wand for exfoliation. This clears dead skin off of the face, allowing for the rest of the facial to fully absorb into the skin. At this point, your complexion begins to get brighter, smoother and more even-toned.

The Contour Phase

The highlight of the facial was definitely the rejuvenation phase, where microcurrent therapy was used to give me the lift that I was looking for. I could feel the not-so-subtle contouring and tightening of my skin as the treatment stimulated collagen production. When receiving microcurrent, you kind of get the taste of metal in the mouth and your muscles twitch involuntarily — it’s not painful at all and sort of feels like a workout for your face. To me, it was both relaxing and invigorating, especially because I could feel how it was beginning to work. We did one side, then my facialist showed me the difference with a mirror.

The Glow Phase

If you’ve ever had oxygen therapy, you know that it can completely change your face. Oxygen benefits the skin by enhancing the amount your dermis can retain moisture, which reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on your face. It also stimulates collagen production for improved firmness and elasticity, while also helping to treat acne by reducing inflammation and redness. A blast of this will make skin appear luminous and kill bacteria — I even asked my facialist to spray some onto my new piercings in hopes that they would get cleaned properly and possibly speed up the healing time.

At the end, my facialist applied the Rescue Vitamin C + Squalane Serum and the Eden Hydrating Pro Moisturizer to really allow my skin to soak in all of the skin-loving benefits of the brand’s skincare products.

The Results

Immediately after my facial, I was led to a room with an LED therapy bed to maximize results. The immediate glow I saw in the mirror after the facial definitely felt Emmys-worthy. My skin felt plump, hydrated and revitalized. My facialist told me that when celebrities receive this facial, they’ll reap the benefits whether they get it before or on the day of.

Personally, days later, I continued to see my skin improving and looking super glowy. My texture reduced and my face retained its firmness. It’s safe to say that while this facial is great for a temporary boost, it can truly transform your skin over time if you continue to get it.

The Final Verdict

If you’re considering the Joanna Vargas Triple Crown Facial, I wholeheartedly recommend it (with my full chest). Whether you want to look good before an event or just get a little boost, the treatment addresses individual skin concerns like acne and loss of elasticity. The expertise of the team made the experience enjoyable and I felt safe in the arms of their expert staff. Having a little slice of luxury at the end of my work week was also completely worth it.

For anyone looking to enhance their glow or simply indulge in a little self-care, the Triple Crown Facial is a must-try.

The Joanna Vargas Triple Crown Facial costs $275 USD for a 60-minute treatment and is available to book via the website
