18 Beauty Trends That Defined Fashion Month SS25

From edgy bangs to bright red lips.

Fashion Month Spring/Summer 2025 set the beauty world abuzz — inspiring beauty looks we’ll follow in the months to come. Blending futuristic elements with nostalgic nods, the runways across New York, London, Milan and Paris showcased a dazzling array of makeup and hair trends.

From the high-tech allure of chrome embellishments to celebrating natural skin, the SS25 fashion month circuit was a season rich with innovation. Keep an eye out for these trends as they make their mark on the real world, offering a new interpretation on how we express individuality and embrace the future of beauty.

Here’s a look at the top 19 beauty trends staling the spotlight.

Chrome Embellishments

Chrome was a major player on the SS25 runways, with designers and makeup artists embracing its futuristic allure. At Nanushka, we saw delicate metallic finishes on the models’ eyes and lips, followed by hardware that was applied to the faces of those that walked the runway at Tombogo. As we get into fashion month, we might see chrome eyeshadows, iridescent highlighters and maybe a silver hair accessory or two.

Super Glam ’90s Revival

The glamour of the ’90s is making a comeback, but with a modern twist. Think bold, defined brows, high-shine lip gloss and dramatic eye makeup that echoes the era of iconic ’90s supermodels. This season’s rendition of ’90s beauty incorporates a luxurious touch — smokey eyeshadows like at Kim Shui, sculpted cheekbones and impeccable contouring like we saw at LaQuan Smith. It’s all about achieving that high-fashion look that was synonymous with that decade, reinterpreted for a new audience.

Natural or Nothing

In a sharp contrast to the bold and glamorous trends, the “natural or nothing” look is all about embracing minimalism. At Collina Strada, the models were prepped with just skincare. These designers are embracing real skin with a focus on enhancing natural beauty. It’s a fresh-faced, barely-there makeup approach that highlights healthy skin, brushed-up brows and a hint of tinted lip balm. Models at Johanna Parv were also sans makeup, partnering with facial fitness brand Facegym to sculpt their faces instead. Word on the street is that this is an authentic asethetic that mirrors a growing preference for effortless beauty.

Fun and Whimsical Elements

Playfulness is taking center stage this season, with whimsical beauty making its way backstage. From long, beautiful wigs at Collina Strada to imaginative nail art at Luar, designers are infusing their shows with fantastical creative touches. Bold pops of color, quirky patterns and playful textures that add a sense of fun to the overall aesthetic. We predict experimentation and self-expression for the rest of this fashion month, allowing individuals to embrace their unique style, also seen through floral lashes at Federico Cina.

Sculptural Hair Designs

Hair is being elevated to an art form this season with sculptural and avant-garde designs and we don’t see that stopping any time soon. Just like at Luar’s SS25 show, we  expect to see intricate braids, oversized structural pieces and geometric shapes that transform hair into a statement piece.

Blondes Do It Better

We’ve been noticing that blonde wigs seem to be making more than one appearance on London’s runways. At Ashley Williams’ and Mowalola’s SS25 shows, models are rocking platinum wigs that go with the beautiful clothing they’re showing off.

Electric Blue Is Back and Better Than Ever

Electric blue is making a comeback — from Chet Lo‘s navy side parts to the navy eyeliner at Sinead Gorey, it seems like bold color is a trend to watch out for this season.

Big Updos

Big hair seemed to be all over the runway, from Sinead Gorey to Bora Aksu to LaQuan Smith. We’ve noticed that designers this season allowed their beauty counterparts to go big or go home.

Cool-Toned Eyeshadow

At Charlotte Knowles, gray and reddish cool tones dominated the eyes of models, leaving a look of matte perfection on the lids on all of those who walked the show in the Old Central Saint Martins Building.

The Super Side Part

We knew it was coming in part to the revival of indie sleaze, but the side part was visible at both the Maxmara and The Attico shows, in a sleek and updated way. Whether it was paired with a slick back bun or mermaid waves, Milan was throwing it way back to the mid ’00s.

Indie Sleaze Eyes

Gucci’s Milan Fashion Week show adorned models in eye makeup that felt messy on purpose, an ode to indie sleaze (especially paired with this neutral lip color). We think that this look will return with an interesting twist, just like the way the brand left the center of the waterline bare here.

No-Makeup Makeup

A post shared by Prada Beauty (@pradabeauty)

Low key was the makeup move in Milan, with Prada Beauty’s Global Creative Makeup Artist, Lynsey Alexander, creating a look focused on a balanced complexion and a modern neutral lip to go with the Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada’s SS25 creations. At Marco Rambaldi, Olivella also went with the no-makeup makeup look. Diane Kendal, makeup lead and Creative Beauty Director at Rabanne told us backstage that “having more makeup on is not always revolutionary.”

Sci-Fi Beauty

The hills have eyes, especially at Diesel. Models wore blue walker-esque eyes to match the denim runway, most likely setting the trend for this experiment contact lens to go mainstream.

Clothing, but Painted On

At AVAVAV, Mac Cosmetics created four key makeup looks, the most interesting being this painted-on sports jacket, mimicking clothing in the brand’s collection.

Bangs on Another Level

A post shared by MUGLER (@muglerofficial)

We’ve seen an avant-garde bang return to global notoriety, much like the Korean jellyfish style, but Mugler proved to us that we’ll be seeing individuals style and cut their hair in various, edgy ways.

Wigs, Wigs and More Wigs

A post shared by Karin Westerlund (@karinwesterlundd)

It seems everywhere from Acne Studios to Ottolinger, wigs were used to tell a story. Could we see more people using this temporary solution for night out looks?

Slick-Back Everything

On the McQueen and Schiaparelli runways, models were given super sleek hair, whether it was laying down on its own or up in a bun. We’re expecting an uptick in the sale of hair gel.

A Bright Red Lip

We love a classic red lip, but this bright candy red we saw at the Vaquera show in Paris has us thinking totally differently.
