A Shaman's Guidance Helped These Beauty Founders With Their Creative Vision

We spoke to Ossiel Ramos and Diego Diéz about how their fated connection led to the creation of their futuristic makeup brand, Od Beauty.

What happens when high fashion meets backstage beauty? A fusion of artistry and sublime vision. Ossiel Ramos and Diego Diéz first crossed paths during a photo shoot for a publication in Mexico City, barely exchanging words but instantly bonding over their shared obsession with makeup. Years later, fate reunited them in Paris, where they both moved. After working together on some of the industry’s most-talked projects, runways and campaigns, their four-year friendship and creative partnership led to the birth of their brainchild: Od Beauty.

Od Beauty is built on the principles of clean, vegan and sustainable formulations — but what truly sets the brand apart is its efficacy. “[Our products] have been tested and approved in the most prestigious backstages in the fashion world, delivering results that meet the high standards of the industry,” Diéz told Hypebae. “We’re always pushing boundaries to create something both innovative and timeless.” The brand’s focus is on high-performance formulas that not only elevate your look but also nourish and improve your skin, blending luxury with efficacy.

Their debut collection, “Foresight,” is a carefully curated series of three drops, each featuring four-star formulas. The first drop, “Vol. 1,” introduces two standout products: the Essential Matte Lipstick and the Glow Stick.

We caught up with Ramos and Díez to discuss the inspiration behind Od Beauty, their passion for makeup and what they envision for the brand’s future.

On what sets the brand apart

Ramos: When we started the brand, we had a reading with a shaman, who gave us our power animals and flowers. These are all represented in our emblem. Each of us has eight flowers that inspire and empower us. We’ve infused their extracts into our products for added skincare benefits. My power animal is the spotted deer and Diego’s is the lynx — these represent us and our differences. The spotted deer is all about elegance and timeless beauty, while the lynx is bold and edgy. You’ll see this reflected in our products — those inspired by the deer are for the classic, refined client and the lynx products are for the more experimental, expressive person.

Diéz: It’s about creating a balance — offering something for everyone, no matter how they want to express themselves. We want to show that when you mix and accept a different side of yourself, a better version comes out. We treat beauty like high fashion — creative, precise and exclusive. This is what our lives have revolved around and it’s part of our DNA, personally and professionally. Our seasonal, limited-edition collections elevate makeup into a form of self-expression, constantly evolving.

On their favorite products

Ramos: I have always been obsessed with a red lip, so “Lucia,” our Essential Matte Lipstick, is my favorite. I worked long and hard to find the perfect shade of red.

Diéz: Our Glow Stick in “Felino,” gives me exactly what I need daily when it comes to glow, structure and warmth — it snatches me up. Our Lipstick in “Poesie,” is based on my natural lip color, so… I’m obsessed, of course. It’s the perfect blush tone for everyone.

On why they love makeup

Ramos: My love for makeup comes from my mother and her obsession with transforming her eyes using black eyeliner. I remember accompanying her when she styled her hair and did bridal makeup professionally. As a child, it was such a joy for me to watch her work — it left a lasting impression on me.

Diéz: Both my grandmothers and my mother were not afraid of makeup and changing their looks constantly. I grew up going to the beauty salon with my mom every week. I loved seeing how she played with her looks and the new personas she would create for herself. The first time I got my makeup done, I was 13 years old, doing drag during a high school musical production of Chicago. The way that makeup artist transformed my baby face and how it made me feel, made me want to start doing it to other people.

On who’s inspired them

Ramos: The greatest inspirations in my career are my idols and mentors of over 10 years, Diane Kendal and Lucia Pieroni. I named my red lipstick “Lucia” and my nude lipstick “Diane” in their honor. My makeup technique changed drastically after working with them and I’m incredibly proud to learn from such iconic artists.

Diéz: My friends, Britney, telenovelas and John Galliano.

On where they see the brand in the future

Ramos: Worldwide honey, with many collaborations. We hope to be able to help people in many ways.
