Rare Beauty's "I See You" Campaign Celebrates the Power of Connection

In recognition of Black History Month.

In honor of Black History Month, Rare Beauty is celebrating the strength, resilience and beauty of Black women with the campaign titled “I See You,” highlighting the need to communicate exactly what we find beautiful in each other.

“‘I See You’ focuses on how we see Black women in their wholeness – from the perspective of other Black women and through the literal lens of a Black woman via portrait photography,” the brand said in a press statement. “It’s an open invitation for Black women in the Rare Beauty community to see and celebrate themselves.”

In the clip, you can see images of women embracing each other, sharing intimate moments and describing in detail the profound experience of truly seeing and understanding the other person — capturing the beauty of mutual recognition. Featuring a cast and crew of solely Black women, the stars of this video campaign are members of the Rare Beauty team, beauty creators and people who are involved in the brand’s community efforts.

Shot by McKayla Chandler and directed by Nia Harris, “I See You” emphasizes the need to uplift one another, whether it’s your best friend, boss or family member. You can watch the short film below.
