As the Seattle Storm’s star guard, the news went viral. At the latest Seattle Storm media day, a reporter inquired, “I see your name tag says Skylar Diggins. So, just wanted to know if that’s how you want us to address you the rest of the year?” Diggins confirmed, adding, ”Yes. Thank you for the question, too. It does say Skylar Diggins, and I would like to be addressed as that moving forward.”

The decision shocked many as the last name Smith belongs to her husband, Daniel Smith. The couple has not yet publicly declared a divorce. His last name has been removed not just from the Seattle Storm roster, but on all official channels, including Diggins’ Instagram.
As many have reported, her name change is a personal decision that she can elaborate further on if desired; however, it’s not essential for her fanbase or performance.
