This Artist Captures Sport Like a Moodboard

New York-based visual artist Brad Walls reveals his latest series of fine art photography, this time through the lens of sport.
Known for his color-rich and razor-sharp aerial shots, Walls “transforms movement, form and everyday environments into meticulously composed, minimalist works,” the press release stated. His first project “Pools from Above” ushered in a new era of fine art photography. Whether it’s shot from the sky or earth-bound, his work poses life as a moodboard.
A recent series of his photographs is named after a popular ballet position, PASSÉ. Here, he took a close look at 60 ballerina dancers from New York’s best institutions. Shot in aerial view, Walls captured the art form “the classical artform through a contemporary lens. The result is an aerial study of ballet that explores the tension between performance and pattern, discipline and design.”
The press release continues, “At the core of his practice is a deep commitment to composition; each frame is carefully sketched, mapped, and refined before the camera is even raised. This intentional, design-first approach allows him to distill motion into graphic stillness, balancing spontaneity with control.”
