Coach Threw Itself a Birthday Party for SS27

Complete with party hats, birthday cards and confetti.

Coach is turning 85, but don’t expect a greatest-hits collection. For Spring/Summer 2027, creative director Stuart Vevers looked to the house’s history through a more personal lens, taking familiar Coach signatures and turning them inside out for a collection about memory, wear and the things that become more interesting with age.

Presented in downtown New York, the runway revisited classic archetypes including the trench coat, leather jacket, tuxedo, bias-cut dress and Western boot. Tailoring arrived with slim, elongated proportions, while inside-out construction exposed linings, seams and internal structures. Soft nappa leather and garment-dyed jersey brought a worn-in quality to traditionally polished pieces, giving tailoring the feeling of a favorite old hoodie.

That sense of lived-in nostalgia and birthday celebration extended to the accessories. Vintage Coach pouches were collaged into new bags, while the Turnlock Tote, inspired by a 1970 design, appeared covered in hand-rubbed metallic foil, glitter, confetti and cracked nail-polish finishes. Elsewhere, birthday cards, wrapped gifts and actual party hats were transformed into leather accessories.

The anniversary celebration culminated in the runway itself. As curtains rose, young musicians from UpBeat NYC performed “Love Is the Message,” joined by voguing dancers and a cascade of confetti before guests were led into Coach Club 85. Now that’s how you throw a birthday party.

For Vevers, 85 years of history isn’t something to look backwards at, it’s something to build on. Check out some of the looks above and head to the brand’s website for more.
