LOEWE Perfumes' New Collab Merges Scent With Art

Featuring original works by Ignasi Monreal.

LOEWE Perfumes are already stimulating to our noses, and now the luxury fragrance brand is taking hold of our eyes, too. In a recent collaboration with Spanish artist Ignasi Monreal, the brand released an exclusive series of illustrations inspired by its five Home Scents aromatic candles.

LOEWE cites Monreal’s unique ability to merge modern digital paintings with the tenderness of classic art practices as the main reason for their collaboration. For this campaign in particular, Monreal entered the botanical landscape of LOEWE Perfumes. The five original works he produced are a direct reference to the brand’s hallmark candle scents: “Ivy,” “Tomato,” “Marijuana,” “Beetroot” and “Oregano.”

Monreal’s paintings attempt to capture how the scents feel, beyond just the notes themselves. For the painting inspired by “Ivy,” a candle is wrapped in lush greens, the “Tomato” work is engulfed in flames, the “Marijuana” piece depicts a plant reflected in a mirror, a “Beetroot” candle forms smoke into the shape of LOEWE’s signature anagram and the “Oregano” painting shows a burning candle amid pastel puddles of wax.

LOEWE’s perfume label has always strived to create a multisensory experience — and this collaboration accomplishes just that. Through both scent and visual art, LOEWE Perfumes and Monreal have created a lush universe of their own.
