Burberry’s Big Swing Will Surprise You
Daniel Lee’s Spring/Summer 2026 show revives festival spirit and musical muses with a sharper, shorter silhouette.
Burberry is bringing the Swinging Sixties back, baby. For Spring/Summer 2026, Daniel Lee returned to Perk Field in Kensington Gardens, staging a collection that built on the house’s renewed dedication to music and fashion’s long love affair with musicians. Just look at the FROW: Raye, Olivia Dean, Central Cee, Skepta, Alexa Chung, Elton John and Twiggy all took pride of place. The festival intent was clear to see from that alone.
Then there was the tent venue itself. Painted with blue skies above and scattered with red sand below, Black Sabbath blared from the speakers (nearly deafening Absolutely Fabulous icons Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders who were sat right next to speakers, and loved by Jonathan Bailey who was bopping along throughout). Against this bright backdrop, Lee unveiled a surreptitiously bold collection.

Most daring of all was the silhouette. While oversized shapes have become runway and street staples, Lee cut closer, sharper and decidedly shorter shapes, especially in skirts and dresses. (Expect the hemline debate to return, with nods to the economy as ever.)
Swingy A-line coats and frocks in Pop Art greens, turquoises and lavenders grooved down the runway, styled with skinny scarves and Gallagher-esque shaggy cuts. Macramé and chainmail added a Woodstock touch, while Chelsea boots and skinny suits tipped a wink to Sam Mendes’s upcoming Beatles franchise.
And then, of course, came the trench coats. Reimagined in shiny waterproofs, denim-effect waxed cottons, and “rockier” tones, they felt playful and fresh. Add in fringed leather jackets and waxed canvas parkas, and the outerwear lineup completed the Glastonbury vibe. And what are the Brits is not Glasto-ready? It might not seem like a monumental shift on the face of it, but there’s plenty of change afoot at Burberry if you tune into it.
