Kim Shui Explores "Erasure and Recovery" for SS26

Playing with the idea of what we choose to show and hide.

Kim Shui presented its Spring/Summer 2026 showcase at New York Fashion Week this season, leaning into the “tailoring, traditions and texture” that the designer associates with her Roman upbringing. Centering around the “Allegory of Inclination,” a 17th-century canvas by Artemisia Gentileschi, the collection explores its mirroring themes of “erasure and recovery.”

Looking at the concept of what’s hidden and shown, the collection acts as a study in reclamation, blurring the lines between identity and authorship. With names like Jordan Chiles, the Clermont Twins and Karruche Tran in attendance, the powerful showcase explored themes of construction and cut, characterized by wrap silhouettes, garments that peeled open and tailored slits and cut-outs.

The color palette ranged from pale green and powder blue to warm brown tones and flashes of metallic hues, while texture took center stage. Sheer fabric slips, draped silks and structured cottons were thrown together, along with glossy surfaces, matte textures and cracked croc pleather.

Elsewhere, the collection debuted oversized “K” earrings and cosmetic case-inspired bags, adding a playful touch to a collection rooted in defiance.
