I Want My Entire Life To Smell Like DedCool's "Xtra Milk"

The cult-favorite scent smells like you’re not wearing anything at all.

As an avid perfume collector, I once found it extremely difficult to narrow down all of my favorite fragrances and pick a quintessential signature scent. Instead, I’d rotate between a variety of perfumes. All the while, I felt a void in my collection. Among the many complex perfumes I experimented with, I still felt like I was lacking a standout scent — one that was versatile enough to wear everyday but also enticing enough to receive compliments from strangers. But, that all changed once I got my hands on DedCool‘s cult-favorite “Xtra Milk” perfume.

Although the musky notes of “Xtra Milk” didn’t exactly jump out to me on paper, I was immediately intrigued after first sniff. Unlike a few other scents in my collection which rely on overly-sweet, gourmand accords, “Xtra Milk” was subtle, yet unmistakable. After a brief encounter with a travel-sized perfume, I was convinced I had finally found my signature scent. From that day forward, I’ve collected practically every “Xtra Milk” scented product — in hopes of drenching my entire life in the fragrance.

Why The Hype?

Although its name might suggest otherwise, “Xtra Milk” isn’t exactly a milky perfume. Instead, it’s described by the brand as “a universal musk, amplified.” Similar to other skin-first scents, the perfume’s subtle notes work in perfect harmony with your skin’s natural scent. Consisting of only amber, bergamot and white musk, “Xtra Milk” has gained a reputation for smelling clean and cozy, with a touch of warmth that’s far from overpowering.

How To Use

While “Xtra Milk” can be worn on its own as an everyday perfume, I found that the traditional scent alone wasn’t enough to satisfy my craving. Luckily, DedCool offers a plethora of “Xtra Milk” products, which can be stacked in order to maximize the joint slay. In fact, the brand even recommends layering the skin scent with its other perfumes, although I enjoy its singularity. There’s a room and linen spray to refresh your space, a detergent to perfume your clothes, a lotion and body wash to envelope you in the scent and even incense for your next meditation sesh.

When it comes to my own routine, I start by cleansing with the “Xtra Milk” body wash in the shower, next, I moisturize my entire body with the lotion. Lastly, before I take on the day, I spritz the perfume to top it all off. I’ve found that this combination intensifies the scent and makes it last all day.

An Honest Review

As much as I enjoy a powdery floral note and a decadent dessert accord, I was initially drawn to “Xtra Milk” because of its subtlety. Since I sometimes find intense, overly-complex perfumes to be headache-inducing and otherwise unwearable for the everyday, “Xtra Milk” was a breath of fresh air. While critics argue that the perfume is barely detectable, that was precisely what I admired most about it. While other scents command attention and almost overtake your entire body, “Xtra Milk” gives off the feeling of stepping out of the shower — plus, it effortlessly fools everyone into believing you just naturally smell good.

Beyond that, DedCool’s ability to craft entire universes based on a single scent is another reason I can’t get enough of “Xtra Milk.” The brand’s expansive portfolio of scented products quite literally fueled my obsession. DedCool understands the concept of a holy grail, and as a result, delivers the scent you already know and love in tons of different formats. For me, this made the decision to swap out my usual room spray and body wash a no brainer. I figured, since I already love “Xtra Milk” so much, why wouldn’t I want all of its different iterations?

The Final Verdict

If you’re swimming in a sea of overbearing perfumes that seem to drench you with a single spritz, “Xtra Milk” might be your new favorite. Aside from being an extremely wearable skin musk, the scent will never overstimulate you — instead, it’ll envelope you in a scent that’s so warm and familiar, it almost feels like you’re not wearing anything at all. Personally, when I’m lacking fragrance inspiration, “Xtra Milk” is just what I need to feel good in my own skin again. Plus, it’s the only perfume I’ve ever worn that can easily pass off as my natural scent.
