'America's Next Top Model' Is Getting a Documentary
We finally hear from Tyra Banks and get an insight into the inner workings of the show.
Back in the ’90s and early 2000s, supermodels were some of the biggest celebrities, and fashion was an industry that most people could only catch a glimpse of on their local high street. In 2003, the TV show America’s Next Top Model was released and changed everything. The controversial show ran until 2018, hosted by Tyra Banks, and gave the average young girl a shot at fame.
Now looking back, many of the scenes are painful to watch, with judges shaming young girls for their bodies and looks. These demeaning moments have given the show a complicated legacy, and today we finally get to hear what really went down. Netflix is releasing a docuseries, Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model, centered around the original show.
Expect comments from Tyra Banks and other judges, opening up about the experience. In the newly released trailer, Banks shares, “I knew I went too far. It was very, very intense. But you guys were demanding it. So we kept pushing it, more and more and more.”
The three-part documentary will release on February 16 on Netflix, with the streamer stating it “will unpack the inner workings of the show, which became a viral juggernaut with a global audience of over 100 million people at its peak,” so mark your calendars.
