Mizuno's New Sneaker Mixes Football With Lifestyle Ahead of the World Cup
Fusing two archival silhouettes for a sporty footwear drop.
Mizuno just unveiled its new sneaker silhouette, blending football with streetwear just in time for the World Cup this summer. Bridging the Japanese brand’s gap between its football boots and its lifestyle collections, the Mizuno Wave Prophecy Morelia Neo is a little mix of everything. Whether you’re wearing these on the pitch or through the city, one thing is certain: you’re bound to stand out.
Designed as a hybrid of the brand’s Morelia football boot and Wave Prophecy running shoe, this sneaker is rooted in sport. Arriving in a metallic silver reminiscent of the shimmering boots Mizuno used to equip players with, the upper is a nod to the Morelia’s 1980s debut.
For the outsole, it’s all about the streets. The Wave Prophecy’s bouncy sole that was once made for long runs and workouts has been reimagined for streetwear. fusing the football boot upper with the athletic sole, a new silhouette is born, and 2026 is the perfect year for it.
With the World Cup fast approaching, brands worldwide are going to be hopping back on the footy train, delving deep into their archives for boots, jerseys and other memorabilia. Mizuno just kicked off fashion’s World Cup, and there’s more where this came from.
The Wave Prophecy Morelia Neo sneaker will be available to purchase starting February 27 on the Mizuno website and select retailers.
