Tyler McGillivary's New Collection Is for the Modern Goddess
Inspired by Greek mythology and ancient vases, “Artemis” brings antiquity into the present.
Tyler McGillivary is looking to ancient mythology for its latest collection, “Artemis,” reimagining the romance of Ancient Greece through a distinctly modern lens. Inspired by Greek vases studied at The Met, the collection sits somewhere between antiquity and fantasy. Soft, body-skimming jerseys are paired with fluid draping and painterly prints, while earthy reds and sun-washed neutrals give the pieces an almost archaeological feel.
Painted fruit appears throughout the collection, acting as both ornament and offering while nodding to themes of abundance, impermanence and beauty. Rather than directly recreating traditional mythological imagery, McGillivary softens these references into wearable silhouettes that feel romantic without veering into costume.
The result is a wardrobe for the modern goddess: understated yet powerful, dreamy but easy to wear. “Artemis” also marks the latest chapter in McGillivary’s ever-expanding visual universe. Following recent worlds including the underwater fantasy of “Mermaiden,” the Totally Spies! collaboration and the dreamy florals of “Waterlily,” the designer continues to treat fashion as a form of escapism and storytelling.
With “Artemis”, McGillivary asks what happens when an ancient story is rewritten for the present. Take a look at the campaign above and head to the brand’s website to shop the lineup.
