MM6 Maison Margiela Just Teased a Havaianas Collaboration
On the runway at Milan Fashion Week.
For its SS27 showcase at Milan Fashion Week, MM6 Maison Margiela brought the drama. What it also brought though, was a preview of what appeared to be an upcoming collaboration with Havaianas.
Teaming up to create the Slim 6Toe, a toe-shaped flip-flop, and the Top 6Layers, an insanely stacked flop, the two styles were developed just for the show and played on Margiela’s signature number 6 motif. Reimagining the footwear brand’s familiar silhouette with a distinctively Margiela take, the result perfectly blends the design language of both parties, in a way that goes far beyond just slapping a logo on top of another. This, is a true collaboration.
Elsewhere, the collection itself leaned into MM6’s signature approach; deconstructing, reinventing and subverting. Shirts were worn unopened as dresses, jumpers upside down and jackets as skirts. Stripes took center stage this season, landing in the form of asymmetric sleeved tops and paired with tailored trousers. Overall, a truly playful collection that reinvented signature silhouettes with a hint of whimsy.
