The Resale Price of Phoebe Philo's Céline Bags Has Increased by 30-Percent
Following Hedi Slimane’s debut at the fashion house.
Luxury label Céline has been all the talk recently, following the departure of 10-year Creative Director Phoebe Philo and the entry of Hedi Slimane. After the former Saint Laurent designer’s debut at Paris Fashion Week earlier this month, Céline pieces have seen an increase in resale value by 30-percent. Not only that, but according to Business of Fashion, The RealReal saw a 52-percent increase in searches for Céline leading up to the PFW show. Following the controversial decision to remove the accent from Céline, turning it into just “Celine,” fans of the label became sceptic to Slimane’s new and edgy approach.
Phoebe Philo-era items are rapidly becoming collectors items, with both bags and apparel seeing a huge increase in comparison to the year before. BoF also reports that between September 27 and October 2, Vestiaire Collective saw a 275-percent increase in Céline searches and a 43-percent increase in sales.
