Celebrate 90 Years of Mickey Mouse With Disney x Karen Walker's Collaboration
Paying homage to the iconic character.
Celebrating Mickey Mouse‘s 90th anniversary, Karen Walker and Disney have teamed up for an exclusive collection dedicated to the cartoon mouse. The iconic character has been around for nearly 100 years, and has inspired everyone from Andy Warhol to Roy Lichtenstein, and has become one of the most recognizable figures in pop-culture. For the collection, Karen Walker has captured Mickey’s fun spirit, and interpreted his personality into the pieces. On why she wanted to collaborate with Disney, Karen explains:
“I’m a lifelong Disney fan and so when we were invited to be one of the very few fashion partners for Mickey and Minnie’s 90th birthdays the answer was an instant ‘yes.’ We got to work with two characters who’ve always delighted me but we also got to create the kind of eye-popping, mouth-watering designs that only come with Disney’s uber-fun vibe. So, it ticked the box for me as a designer but also as a lifelong fan.”
The Disney x Karen Walker collection consists of a range of sweatshirts and T-shirts that sport well-known characters like Minnie Mouse, Mickey, Goofy and Donald Duck, and consists of a soft pastel color palette contrasted with classic black, grey and white hues. Of course, the collaboration also features a selection of eyewear, arriving in four different styles. As an ode to the character, the range incorporates small mouse ears and hands into the pieces, as well as a pair sporting Minnie Mouse’s long lashes.
Last but not least, the collaboration also includes a selection of fine jewelry in sterling silver and 9-carat gold, featuring cute pendants inspired by the characters.
