Street Style at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi SS19 Was the Most Theatrical Yet
Bold looks from the home country of Vetements and Balenciaga’s Demna Gvasalia.
You may have heard of a fellow named Demna Gvasalia. Before taking the helm at Balenciaga as Creative Director, he took the fashion world by storm when he first debuted his “kitsch-chic” label Vetements. Since then, Gvasalia has become a colossal force to be reckoned with in the industry and has unquestionably cemented his legacy within the realms of both fashion and culture. Now, we take a closer look at the designer’s roots, heading to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi – the city happens to be the capital of Georgia, which is where Gvasalia famously hails from.
As seen in the collection of streetsnaps, Tbilisi street style promises some of the most theatrical looks we’ve seen yet from all of fashion month. From multiple sightings of full-on ski masks, to plenty of animal print pieces, there was certainly no shortage of statement pieces from the Georgian glitterati. Contrasting against the bold items, however, were also plenty of refined, tailored pieces in the form of wide-legged trousers, plaid blazers, silk slips and impeccably cut jackets. Although logo-mania was not as present in Tbilisi, plenty of luxury pieces are also spotted, which include a JW Anderson handbag, Burberry jacket and of course, the cult-status Dior Saddle Bag.
