Gucci Just Debuted a Bejeweled Hiking Sneaker at Its Fall/Winter 2018 Show
And other mind-bending footwear.
Gucci‘s Fall/Winter 2018 show was full of surprises. Creative director Alessandro Michele continues to push the boundaries of runway fashion borrowing inspiration from streetwear and European workwear. Besides the show-stopping props that included a baby dragon, snake and lizards, the Milan Fashion Week presentation also debuted new footwear silhouettes from the Italian label.
The standout is the hiking sneaker which is draped with square-shaped jewels. Gucci’s text logo is then printed on the shoe’s tag in SEGA’s nostalgic script. Models wore an assortment of chunk heels, retro ’90s jelly sandals and a pair of flat mules engraved with the New York Yankees’ insignia. Michele is set to disrupt the sneaker community again like he did with the rework of the Ace sneaker.
