Alexander Wang Unveils a Crystal-Encrusted Bodega Bag

The teaser has since been deleted off the designer’s IG account.

Alexander Wang is definitely no stranger to quirky, luxe reworks of banal objects. Last year, the NYC-based designer collaborated with the late Judith Leiber on a Money Bag that was encrusted with well over 100,000 Swarovski crystals, as well as an equally iced out Ziploc bag for his final NYFW show. Now, Wang runs with this off-kilter motif once again – this time around, he takes to his own personal Instagram account to unveil a crystal-covered bodega bag.

Accompanied by an emoji-riddled caption that alludes to something along the lines of “no plastic in the oceans,” Wang has reimagined this classic New York City icon into a designer bag. Similar to the previous bedazzled iterations, this silhouette is also of micro sizing. As shown in the teaser, the bag seems to barely contain a can of PBR.

Although the post has since been removed from the designer’s Instagram page, the original caption indicated #WANGUSA and “SUN JUNE 3rd,” which also happens to be when the designer’s next show is slated to take place in New York. From what we gather, we can expect the new design to debut at his next presentation. You can see the original image from the IG post above.
