Check out my honest opinion on the collaborative sneaker design.
Following up on our most recent installment of the “#hypebaekicks Review,” we’re breaking down Reebok‘s almost sold out capsule with creative collective LoveRenaissance and Atlanta artist FRKO RICO. FRKO is well known for his hip-hop illustrations which have been commisioned by Action Bronson and Chuck Inglish. The footwear designs which were released included two different Classic Leather silhouettes and one Workout Plus model.
Keep reading below for all the reasons why the LVRN x FRKO x Reebok Workout Plus 3AM ATL is worth copping.
THE SHOE: LVRN x FRKO x Reebok Workout Plus 3AM ATL
OUR REVIEW: Firstly, I’d like to share that I’ve been an avid Reebok wearer since I became obsessed with the Freestyle Hi, which was released in bold, bright colors back when I was in high school. The design on the Hi is a bit similar to the Workout Plus in my opinion. Reebok’s silhouettes are minimalistic and also great if you’re feeling like throwing on a fit that’s vintage-inspired.
The Workout Plus 3AM ATL sneakers are created with an off-white hue on the leather upper. At first glance, I didn’t really notice how distinct the colorway of the kicks was. But after taking a closer look, I realized the off-white gives it a bit of a grungy, vintage feel. What’s great about this pair is how the low-cut design makes for an ultra-comfortable fit. Also, I think the EVA foam midsole is definitely a staple design cue which might be underrated, when I wear these, even for long periods of time, my feet do not cramp up as they do with other low-top sneakers.
In terms of detailing, I love the upside-down “LVRN” font which appears in a bold blue hue beneath a large, multi-colored Reebok logo in blue, orange and yellow. The tonal lacing paired with matching stitching rounds out the clean-cut features. I’m not a white sneaker girl (blame the dusty city), so I’m definitely going to have to think about my outfits a bit when I decide to throw these on for a day out and about. However, I can see these kicks being an everyday sneaker for millennials who enjoy throwing on unique yet comfortable footwear options.
VERDICT: COP
BUY: Both models of the Reebok CL Leather 3AM ATL are still available at select online retailers like Foot Locker where they retail for $100 USD.
