Celine and Reebok Lean Into Nostalgia With the Freestyle Lo

Introducing the French house’s first-ever sneaker collaboration.

High fashion and sportswear intersect once again as Celine partners with Reebok, marking the French maison’s first-ever sneaker collaboration. Previously debuted by creative director Michael Rider on the runway, the unexpected project takes an archival footwear icon and translates it through a distinctly Parisian lens.

Rather than opting for predictable choices like the Club C or Classic Leather, Rider dusted off the 1982 Reebok Freestyle Lo, acknowledged as one of the first performance sneakers engineered specifically for women. Celine strips back the traditional side vector overlays to craft a sleeker, minimalist silhouette made entirely from soft, pliable lambskin leather.

In line with the pared back design, the branding is understated, too. The tongue features Reebok’s classic logo seamlessly integrated with the Celine signature, while subtle dual emblems rest above the heel tabs. Reflecting Rider’s balance of classic wardrobe staples and vivid accents, the lineup drops in eight colorways, ranging from classic “Optic White” and “Black” to rich shades of “Peanut,” “Dark Brown,” “Oxblood” and “Fluo Red.”

The Celine x Reebok Freestyle Lo launches September 10 on the Celine website and select retailers, with exclusive regional colorways dropping at Celine’s Wooster Street location in New York and Omotesando in Tokyo.

In other news, Melitta Baumeister previewed her new Nike Air Rift collaboration.
