Virgil Abloh Announces the Official Theme of Off-White™'s SS19 Show
Shedding a light on a titan in the graffiti community.
Virgil Abloh took to Instagram to announce the theme of Off-White™‘s highly-anticipated, Spring/Summer 2019 collection. Debuting in less than a week at Paris Fashion Week, the presentation will honor of world-renowned graffiti artist Dondi White. White was known for his distinct street art writing style which he developed in the ’70s. At the age of 37 years old, White died of AIDS in 1998.
In the post, Abloh shared the show would be “highlighting his legacy in art” and also that he would be donating proceeds to God’s Love We Deliver, a New York City charity. The organization delivers nutritious meals to individuals in the five boroughs who are suffering from severe ailments. Street artist KAWS shared an image of his own via Instagram of White’s “Bishop of Battle” artwork and added that he’s “looking forward to seeing what you’re [Abloh] up to!”
Off-White™’s SS19 show will take place on June 20. Notably, Abloh’s first Louis Vuitton presentation will be rolled out on June 21.
