Leaked Lists of Grammy Winners Were Fake, According to the Recording Academy
Cardi B, Chloe x Halle and Taylor Swift were named.
The Recording Academy has debunked a leaked list of 2019 Grammy winners and declared it as fake. According to Billboard, the post, which was shared on Twitter featured an attached video of the alleged winners’ list.
Billboard reports that a Recording Academy spokesperson declared:
“There is no legitimacy to this. Grammy Awards results are not shared, even with Recording Academy staff members, until the day of the Grammy Awards ceremony, when names of the recipients are delivered by [accounting firm] Deloitte in sealed envelopes.”
Twitter was lit ablaze when the tweet, which has since been deleted went viral. The list of fake winners included Cardi B‘s “I Like It” as Record of the Year, H.E.R.‘s self-titled project as Album of the Year and Chloe x Halle as Best New Artist. Song of the Year according to the false leak would have went to Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s “Shallow.” An additional pick included Taylor Swift for Best Pop Album.
The 61st annual Grammys Awards are set to take place on Sunday, February 10 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Alicia Keys will be the host.
