As January comes to a close, we’re taking a look at the music we’ve been listening to nonstop. This month was filled with a slew of heavy hitters from female artists in pop, R&B and rap. If you think 2018 was a banner year for women in music, this year is gearing up to be even bigger. Our latest roundup sheds light on emerging artists like Mabel and cult favorites including Lion Babe.
Summer Walker graced us with the release of her newest project CLEAR, which features four blissful tracks, one being our favorite, “Wasted.” If you’re more into hip-hop, look to Dreezy‘s latest release titled Big Dreez. This compilation is packed with relaxed songs like “Ecstasy” and a few other energetic cuts. We’ve also got our eyes on Coi Leray‘s banger “Did It” from her newest EP EC2.

Atlanta’s very own Summer Walker is making a name for herself yet again with her new project CLEAR. This release and the accompanying live video are soulful, filled with emotion and downright beautiful.
Dreezy – “Ecstasy ft. Jeremih”
Dreezy isn’t here to play games. This smooth cut off of Big Dreez is perfect for cuffing season and gets an extra oomph factor with the assistance of R&B singer Jeremih.
Dillon Francis & Alison Wonderland – “Lost My Mind”
This single kicks off both artists’ joint U.S. headlining tour. The release is sonic-filled and would be great for adding to a kickback playlist.
Molly Rainford – “Commitment”
Rising singer Molly Rainford offers up a slow, memorable listen with “Commitment.” On this song, she showcases her soft voice alongside an easygoing beat.
LION BABE – “The Wave ft. Leikeli47”
This funky visual for their latest single “The Wave” is the latest release from the band ahead of their upcoming album, Cosmic Wind. The trippy video is fun to watch and of course reminiscent of the ’70s.
Mabel – “Don’t Call Me Up”
Mabel is slated to be one of the next biggest pop acts out of the U.K. Her latest single, “Don’t Call Me Up” and the featured colorful video present her as a breakout artist of-the-moment.
Sigrid – “Don’t Feel Like Crying”
Norwegian pop star Sigrid drops her vibrant single, “Don’t Feel Like Crying” ahead of her debut project, Sucker Punch. In an official press release, she shares that the track has a “romantic melancholy in the landscape.”
Little Simz – “Selfish ft. Cleo Soul”
Little Simz returns to drop a visual for her new song “Selfish.” This video is the prelude to her forthcoming album, GREY AREA out on March 1.
Coi Leray – “Did It”
Coi Leray’s experimental release EC2 is worth a listen. On the catchy song “Did It,” the rapper takes full control of the beat.
Jayla Darden – “Idea 717”
This songbird who recently signed to Interscope is one to keep your eyes on. “Idea 717” from her recent project IDEAS is relatable and proves her sheer talent.
