All the BAFTA Awards 2019 Winners: Lady Gaga, Letitia Wright & More
Did your favorite film take home a win?
On Sunday, the 72nd British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards was hosted in England at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall. The ceremony honors the top talent in the entertainment industry. Two movies that won big yesterday evening were Roma and The Favourite. Unsurprisingly, A Star Is Born which starred Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper took home the award for Best Original Music.
The Favourite which paints a comedic picture of Queen Anne during the 18th century in England won seven of its 12 nominations including Outstanding British Film and Best Actress for Olivia Colman. Colman played the role of Queen Anne. Netflix’s Roma won across numerous highly regarded categories not limited to Best Film, Best Original Screenplay and Best Director, awarded to Alfonso Cuarón.
A memorable moment of the evening included Letitia Wright of Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War winning the BAFTA Rising Star award. During her acceptance speech, she spoke candidly about overcoming depression. Wright shared:
“A few years ago I saw myself in a deep state of depression and I literally wanted to quit acting. This wasn’t an overnight thing, this wasn’t a click of a finger success, and I’m still a work in progress, but I want to thank God, my family, my team.”
