Daniel Arsham x RIMOWA Transform a Suitcase Into a Work of Art
The $2,200 USD case will be sold in limited quantities.
RIMOWA has tapped contemporary artist Daniel Arsham to revive the brand’s vintage suitcase as art. The design of the limited-edition item stems from Arsham’s eroded aesthetic appearing to an artifact pulled up from an archaeological site.
The one-of-a-kind piece will be housed in a classic RIMOWA aluminum suitcase complete with handling gloves and an informational booklet. Its carrying case arrives in the brand’s classic silver hue.
Daniel Arsham and Rimowa will be selling a small quantities of the art piece at a Sotheby’s auction. The auction will include the sculpture itself, as well as a signed drawing of the artwork, a personalized letter from Arsham, and a special sticker set designed by the duo. The auction will be held online only from May 2 to May 13. The piece will release again on May 17 on RIMOWA’s website and stores as well as Daniel Arsham’s website for $2,200 USD each.
