Disney's 'Cruella' Live-Action Movie Release Date Gets Pushed Back
Here is everything we know about the movie starring Emma Stone.
From The Little Mermaid to Lady and the Tramp, Disney is rebooting its nostalgic, classic animated movies left and right, and 101 Dalmatians is no exception. A Cruella film is slated to hit the theatres, and here’s everything we know about the movie so far.
Unlike the other live-action remakes, this upcoming movie departs from the original storyline and is a prequel to 101 Dalmatians focused on the story’s villain. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story will be set in the ’80s and will get a punk revamp. Fans are already speculating that we will get context and the backstory on the antagonist’s evil motives. A young Cruella de Vil will be played by Emma Stone alongside Emma Thompson, Joel Fry and Paul Walter Hauser. Craig Gillespie, the director of I, Tonya, will be directing the movie.
Cruella was supposed to release just before Christmas 2020, but Disney has announced that the date has now moved to May 28, 2021. Stay tuned for more news about the origin story of the dog-napping fashionista.
