Celebrate the Upcoming Lunar New Year With the Nike Air Max 1 "NYC Chinatown"
Featuring Longma, a prominent character within Chinese mythology.
Nike‘s Air Max 1 “NYC Chinatown” pays ode to the upcoming Lunar New Year this weekend, inspired mostly by New York City‘s vibrant and bustling Chinatown. It will release to coincide with the annual Chinese holiday and will feature Chollima, a well-known and prominent character in Chinese mythology depicted by a winged horse.
The heritage Air Max 1 gets a complete revamp, swapping out the classical color-blocked tones with fresh detailing and vibrant hues. Chollima’s figure can be found on the heel of the silhouette, other Chinese characters can be located on the tongue and a medley of colors such as oranges, blues and pinks are seen on the rubber outsole around the shoe. Bold reds and blacks, on the flipside, populate the iconic runner’s upper, giving the shoe a regal, rich and authentically Chinese New Year vibe.
The Nike Air Max 1 “NYC Chinatown” will be available on January 25 at 3pm and will retail on Nike’s website for $130 USD.
