Footwear News Names 2020 Honorees, Including Amina Muaddi and Aurora James
As well as two unexepected Brands of the Year.
Footwear News, widely considered the bible of shoes, has announced the honorees for its 2020 Achievement Awards. Set to take place virtually, the gala will see Amina Muaddi for FENTY (Collaborator of the Year), Aurora James of Brother Vellies (Person of the Year) and Cardi B (Style Influencer of the Year) receive recognition from what industry insiders call the “Oscars of shoes.”
This year’s ceremony will also introduce two new awards, the Sustainability Leadership Award and Athletic Brand of the Year, going to Timberland and New Balance respectively. Perhaps pointing to the pandemic’s necessitation of house-friendly footwear, Birkenstock and Crocs will be honored as Brands of the Year and Salehe Bembury, vice president of sneakers at Versace, will take home the Designer of the Year title.
