Designer Repurposes Exercise Balls Into Chairs With Streetwear Covers
Take a closer look at Matteo De Clercq’s fashionable furniture.
Milan-based designer Matteo De Clercq, also known as MDCQ, has unveiled a playful range of furniture made from repurposed garments by adidas, Stone Island and more. Dubbed Bounce Chairs, the fashionable and functional pieces are made from Swiss exercise balls — known to encourage correct posture and a stronger core — dressed in removable clothing covers.
De Clercq constructed these clothing covers, which zip off for easy washing, from garments including a black adidas tracksuit and a yellow Stone Island bathrobe. Another chair is outfitted in a green-striped Off-White™ coat while a fourth boasts a Barilla x GCDS hoodie. “Through a novel take on the exercise ball, the Bounce Chair transcends its nature as simple fitness equipment by offering an array of aesthetic possibilities,” De Clercq said of his eye-catching project.
