Make Your DMs Disappear With Facebook Messenger's Vanish Mode
Yes, you’ll know if someone takes a screenshot.
Adding new privacy controls to the messaging experience, Facebook is rolling out Vanish Mode on Messenger and Instagram DMs. With the new feature, users can send text and images that disappear automatically.
To turn on Vanish Mode, open Messenger in Facebook or Instagram and simply swipe up in an existing chat. Once a message is seen by the receiver and he or she exits the thread, it will vanish. If someone takes a screenshot, you’ll be notified. Additionally, Vanish Mode is opt-in, meaning both sender and receiver can consent to chatting with the feature turned on.
Facebook’s Vanish Mode is available on Messenger in the U.S., and will roll out in Europe soon. The feature will hit Instagram in the coming weeks (not on November 16 as previously stated).
