adidas Originals Gets Festive With Gremlin-Inspired Stan Smith
A “Christmas Monster” dressed in fuzzy faux fur.
Having released collaborative sneakers with Prada recently, adidas has now revealed new “Christmas Monster” Stan Smith sneakers inspired by the classic ’80s film, Gremlins. The holiday-themed shoe is highlighted with design cues reminiscent of the fuzzy fictional creature, Mogwai.
The silhouette is covered in faux fur material throughout the upper, creating an asymmetrical effect with different shades of brown and beige. Stitching details are added to each panel in contrasting shades. Unlike the original kicks, the forthcoming pair comes with subtle branding, with the classic perforations absent from the sides. A standout feature of the festive sneakers is the realistic portrayal of the Gremlin’s eyes placed on the rear. Rounding off the design is adidas’ logo on the footbed alongside symbols that remind the wearer that Gremlins should not get wet. As a nod to the film, the design is complete with GORE-TEX technology, making the pair waterproof.
