Burberry to Donate Leftover Fabrics to Fashion Students

Adding to its ongoing sustainability initiative.

Having expanded its scholarship program for underrepresented students earlier this year, Burberry has now announced a new sustainability project with the British Fashion Council. Through a pilot program titled ReBurberry Fabric, the luxury house will be donating leftover fabrics to fashion students in the UK.

“Providing resources for [students] in a sustainable way will enable them to bring their creativity to life, and continue through their programs with the tools they need,” Burberry’s VP of Corporate Responsibility Pam Batty comments in a statement. “We look forward to seeing how donations can positively impact these academic institutions and students, and hope this is the beginning of a wider industry initiative to support these communities, now and in the future.”

Supporting the initiative, the BFC will be overseeing the logistics of the donations through the Institute of Positive Fashion. Following the pilot stages, Burberry will be working to make the program more accessible for the entire fashion industry as an effort to support young and rising talent.

You can head over to the BFC’s website to learn more.
