Tia Adeola Premieres 'Black Is Beautiful' Fashion Film With All-Black Female Cast for SS21
Influenced by Sofia Coppola’s 2006 film, ‘Marie Antoinette.’
Tia Adeola has debuted a fashion film titled Black is Beautiful to coincide with her upcoming Spring/Summer 2021 collection. According to a press release, the film was inspired by Sofia Coppola’s 2006 film, Marie Antoinette, and “produced through the lens of Renaissance epicureanism and indulgent luxury.”
Directed by Nina Meredith, the two-minute video stars an all-Black female cast, including rapper and songwriter Flo Milli, and R&B vocalist Paloma Ford. As seen in the lookbook above, the range features an elevated take on evening wear. Hand-embroidered jumpsuits and evening gowns can be found throughout the line, along with hand-boned corsets, suits and sweeping pearl robes. Elsewhere, Adeola’s signature Renaissance-inspired garments have been reimagined such as the brand’s iconic ruffle silhouettes. Finally, accessories like the eyewear pieces have been created in collaboration with Planet i.
