Kenneth Ize Makes Paris Debut With FW20 Collection
Featuring Naomi Campbell and Imaan Hammam.
2019 LVMH Prize finalist Kenneth Ize made quite the splash at Paris Fashion Week with the debut of his Fall/Winter 2020 collection, a show that opened and closed with Imaan Hammam and Naomi Campbell respectively. Ize, who was born in Lagos and grew up in Austria, built his latest offerings upon his heritage by pairing Nigerian handwoven “asoke” fabrics with lace made in Vienna.
Primarily known for his menswear tailoring, Ize’s new pieces showcase his craftsmanship while adding feminine touches — woven separates are undone at the hem, feathering into a delicate fringe, and a selection of skirts and dresses are cut with high slits. Besides the show’s extraordinary opening and closing casting, Adwoa Aboah and Lindsey Wixson, a throwback to modeling’s old guard, also walked the runway sporting a quilted jumpsuit and exquisitely embroidered suit.
