Sustainable Sneaker Brand SAYE Specializes in Timeless Shoes With a Mission
For each pair sold, the company plants two trees.
Since 2018, Barcelona-based sneaker brand SAYE has been designing stylish, eco-conscious sneakers that help offset the effects of deforestation. The brand has finally launched internationally, expanding its customer base — and sustainable mission — on a global scale. For each pair of sneakers sold, SAYE plants two trees in partnership with WeForest, an NGO that strategically works with communities most affected by deforestation.
SAYE’s introductory sneaker, the Modelo ‘89, is a low top tennis-style shoe constructed of a white leather upper and flat white midsole. Bright colorways add a single stripe in beige, black, burgundy and green to the lateral. All sneakers are produced in factories in Portugal, a decision made to ensure that SAYE’s workers are paid fairly and treated ethically. Additionally, the shoes are made of leather certified by the Leather Working Group, including organic cotton laces and recycled foam for the insole.
