Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Surprises Fans With 'Animal Crossing' Island Visits

Adding to the list of celebrities who play Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez used the video game to make surprise visits to fans’ islands.
On May 7, the politician tweeted that she was “very new” to the game and was looking to “visit random people’s islands and leave a doodle or note on their bulletin board.” Ocasio-Cortez then opened her DMs for four minutes, allowing her fans to submit their Dodo codes for a surprise “house” call. AOC subsequently shared a photo of her first island visit, revealing her avatar dressed in a hand-drawn campaign shirt.
Unsurprisingly, detractors were quick to criticize Ocasio-Cortez for her virtual initiative. “Are you kidding me? We’re paying you to play Animal Crossing? OMG,” former Republican Congressional candidate DeAnna Lorraine tweeted. In response, AOC cleverly pointed out: ”Curious for your thoughts on Trump’s golf bills.”
